We Illuminate the TIFs of Cincinnati!

44 TIFs in Cincinnati!

The Cincinnati Educational Justice Coalition and the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers brought Tom Tresser to the Queen City over the weekend of December 9. The mayor there is proposing to create 15 new TIFs with very little advance warning and virtually no community engagement. The Cincy organizers threw together a TIF town meeting for Sunday night and 85 people attended – including four members of the Board of Education! In preparing the presentations we were struck by how little information on the TIFs in Ohio (and Cincy, in particular) was available! Worse than Chicago!

Freeze the TIFs!

We organized a rally in front of City Hall the next morning and went in to testify before the City Council Finance Committee. Twenty people testified with passion, principle – and because of our combined research – the facts.
