There are citizen’s movements all over America to protest staggering rises in property taxes as well as the corrupt and racist history of property tax collection. The present situation in Chicago and many other cities is intollerable – forcing long time residents to move when they do not want to move. Here are jsut a few efforts that are worth following.

The Detroit Coalition for Property Tax Justice has been super busy with amazing research, protest, grassroots organizing, petitions, and legal action to correct decades of unjust civic financing.
A great source of data and state-to-state and national comparisons for all things tax is the Tax Foundation.
There is no shortage of bodies doing research on property taxes in this space – a current effort is the work being done at the University of Illinois Chicago.
