[Chicago TIF Data 2010-2022]

The data for our Chicago 2022 TIF Illumination was gathered by a team of Interns working via the Metropolitan Chicago Data-Science Corps under the supervision of Professor Phil Yates of DePaul University. The Interns were Will Fineberg and Andres Meza of DePaul University and Mavis Wang of Northwestern University. They created an app that harvested data from the 131 PDS parked on the city’s website. They also created two awesome visualization tools to help bring the data to life – see the links above. To see the documentation on these applications, visit Prof. Yate’s page on GitHub.

Will Fineberg – Born and raised in Chicago, Will has a genuine commitment to addressing injustices in his community. Throughout his life he and his family have worked with the Cornerstone Community Outreach, which provides integral services to the homeless population in Uptown. Will’s passion for environmental issues, including the environmental injustices in his hometown, strongly influences his dedication to creating positive change. While pursuing his B.S. in Computer Science at DePaul University, he obtained a certificate in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Will applies his enthusiasm for Geography and Computer Science to leverage technology and his community engagement to make a meaningful impact.

Andres Meza – I’m a senior at DePaul University. My major is BS-Environmental Science with a minor in Biology and I have a special interest in Restoration Ecology. I grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago, I served 5 years in the Marine Corps, I have a wife and 2 children (a 5 year old boy and 2 year old girl), I enjoy fishing in my spare time, and plan on seeking federal employment post graduation, preferably in the field of restoration.

Mavis Wang – I’m Mavis Wang, a rising junior at Northwestern University studying Computer Science, Data Science, and Psychology. I’m passionate about software development and programming for the greater good.
